MAHB'S DOMESTIC AIRPORTS SAW 9.4 MILLION PASSENGERS IN JANUARY 2026

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB)’s domestic network saw 9.4 million passenger movements in January 2026, the opening month of Visit Malaysia Year 2026. The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Penang International Airport (PEN) recorded the highest year-on-year growth within the network, with KLIA leading at 5.9 million passenger movements, up by 8.2%, followed by PEN with 741,183 passengers, a 3.8% increase.

 


 

TSR CAPITAL SECURES KL-KARAK HIGHWAY WIDENING PROJECT WORTH RM99 MILLION

TSR Capital Bhd, via its wholly owned TSR Bina Sdn Bhd, together with its joint venture partner, has secured a RM99 million contract to widen a stretch of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway. The contract was secured. The scope of work covers Package 1B under the broader highway widening programme from KM19.2 to KM64.5, involving the construction and completion of earthworks. Works are scheduled to commence in 2Q26.

 


 

GADANG WINS SECOND KL-KARAK HIGHWAY WIDENING JOB WORTH RM95 MILLION

Gadang Holdings Bhd, via its wholly owned subsidiary, Gadang Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd, has secured its second contract to widen the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway valued at RM95.14 million. The scope of work covers Package 1A under the broader highway widening programme, spanning from KM19.2 to KM64.5. The contract has a duration of 18 months and is scheduled for completion in 2H27. 

 


 

GOVT REVIEWING NEW PROPOSAL FOR MEX II HIGHWAY COMPLETION

The government has received a new proposal to complete the remaining construction of the beleaguered MEX II highway project. The proposal was submitted by the receivers and managers of the project concessionaire, MEX II Sdn Bhd, in December 2025 to the Public-Private Partnership Unit (UKAS). MEX II, also known as the MEX extension, is a planned 16.8km, three-lane dual carriageway linking the MEX Putrajaya Interchange to the KLIA highway. Construction began in 2016 and was initially targeted for completion in December 2019. The project has been delayed mainly due to financial constraints faced by MEX II Sdn Bhd.  

 


 

IJM LAND LAUNCHES RM92.9 MILLION SUTERA PHASE 2 AT S2 HEIGHTS AMAN

IJM Land Bhd has launched Sutera Phase 2 at S2 Heights Aman with a gross development value (GDV) of RM92 million, introducing 104 units of 22ft by 65ft two-storey link homes with built-ups starting from 1,949 sq. ft. The new phase follows the completion of Sutera Phase 1, which comprised 204 freehold two-storey link homes.

 


 

SUNWAY PROPERTY SETS RM4.2 BILLION SALES TARGET, UNVEILS RM4.8 BILLION LAUNCH PIPELINE IN 2026

Sunway Property has set an RM4.2 billion sales target for 2026, supported by an RM4.8 billion launch pipeline across Malaysia and key regional markets In Johor, it will introduce the second phase of Sunway Sakura, featuring landed semi-detached homes and two additional residential developments, namely serviced apartments and linked semi-detached houses, alongside lifestyle components such as the Jeffrey Cheah Circuit and Sunway Puteri Hills, further strengthening the Sunway City Iskandar Puteri (SCIP) township’s integrated ecosystem.  At the Bukit Chagar Rapid Transit System (RTS), Sunway Property plans to launch its transit-oriented development (TOD) starting with a residential tower.

In Klang Valley, the developer is set to launch its second phase of Sunway Serene 2 and Tower C of Sunway Velocity 3, the Jeffrey Cheah Performing Arts Centre at Sunway Square in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur is also scheduled for completion, further enhancing the township’s integrated lifestyle offering. In Penang, it plans to introduce retail components and serviced apartments within Sunway Wellesley township. In Ipoh, Sunway Bayu will be launched as the final landed residential phase in Sunway City Ipoh while Sunway Ipoh Mall is targeted for completion in 2027. Sunway Property also continues to expand its industrial portfolio to support Malaysia’s growing manufacturing, logistics and data-driven economy. Key offerings such as Sunway Rawang Managed Industrial Park in Kuang and Equalbase Sunway 103° in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, a designated free commercial zone supporting cross-border trade, logistics and data centres position the group to meet rising demand for modern industrial and digital infrastructure.

 


 

KERJAYA PROSPEK EYES INDUSTRIAL PARK EXPANSION, LAND BANK GROWTH

Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd is exploring new industrial park opportunities as it looks to expand beyond its proposed joint venture in Penang with KWEST Sdn Bhd, KWAP's property arm on the planned Batu Kawan Industrial Park. 

The group is also eyeing fresh land acquisitions in Kuala Lumpur and Penang to bolster its property portfolio. Kerjaya Prospek recently expanded its footprint in the Klang Valley by acquiring three parcels of freehold land along Jalan Puchong, Kuala Lumpur, measuring about 7.4 acres, for RM112.8 million. The group currently has 89 acres of gross land bank earmarked for upcoming property development projects in Tanjung Bungah, Seberang Perai Tengah and Batu Kawan in Penang, as well as Jalan Puchong in Kuala Lumpur.

 


 

VARIA SECURES RM155 MILLION SUBCONTRACT TO UPGRADE PASIR GUDANG HIGHWAY

Varia Bhd has secured a RM155 million subcontract for the upgrading works of the Pasir Gudang Highway. The subcontract covers labour, materials, equipment and machinery supply for the construction and completion of civil and infrastructure upgrading works for the Pasir Gudang highway in Johor. The contract runs for 36 months from 3rd December 2025 till 2nd December 2028.

 


 

PUBLIC INSPECTION FOR LRT MUTIARA LINE EXTENSION LINKING PENANG ISLAND AND SEBERANG PERAI

Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) has announced a Public Inspection exercise to gather feedback on the Revised Railway Scheme for the LRT Mutiara Line extension linking Penang Island and Seberang Perai. The three-month Public Inspection, from 24th February 2026 to 24th May 2026, will provide an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the extension of the alignment, station locations, and related project details.   The Revised Railway Scheme also includes several key updates following the scaling down of the Penang South Reclamation (PSR) development from three islands to one, resulting in the omission of 3.15km of alignment and three stations. 

The Revised Railway Scheme incorporates several updates to the project scope, most notably the extension of the alignment to include a cross-sea rail connection linking Penang Island and Seberang Perai. Spanning approximately 6 km, the cross-sea alignment connects KOMTAR and Penang Sentral, with the endto-end journey expected to take about eight minutes.

MRT Corp will retain 1.5km of the alignment and has reclassified Station A1 (PSR A) as a provisional station to support future development. Other updates include the addition of stations at Penang Sentral and Bagan Luar (provisional), as well as a secondary depot at Tapak Pesta in Sungai Dua for the stabling of trains.

The LRT Mutiara Line, commenced construction in 2025 and is expected to begin operations in December 2031. The line will span approximately 29.67km with 20 stations and two provisional stations.

 


 

E&O SAYS ANDAMAN ISLAND PHASE 2 RECLAMATION WORKS TO BE COMPLETED BY END-2027

Eastern & Oriental Bhd expects the reclamation works for Phase 2 of its Andaman Island project in Penang to be completed by end-2027, about a year ahead of schedule while infrastructure works are targeted for completion by 2029. Andaman Island is a 760-acre reclamation project located off Gurney Drive in Penang. Phase 1, spanning 253 acres, carries a gross development value (GDV) of RM20 billion and has seen six projects launched: The Meg, Arica, Senna, Fera, The Lume and Maris. Phase 2, covering 507 acres, has an estimated GDV of RM40 billion.
