Dato’ Paduka Sulaiman Mustafa

Sulaiman Mustafa was born in Terengganu. He attended the Royal Military College (1965-1968), and made his mark when he won the scholarship to pursue a Chartered Surveying professional course in London. Here he excelled as the only Malaysian to top the Chartered Surveying professional examinations across several divisions of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), winning the coveted Julian Rogers Prize.

Sulaiman has dedicated over four decades to Jones Lang Wootton, significantly contributing to the firm’s growth and emphasising the non-negotiable importance of professional integrity in both his business and personal life. His career, marked by a brief yet impactful stint at the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia, reflects a steadfast commitment to excellence and ethics.

Beyond his primary responsibilities at Jones Lang Wootton, Sulaiman has engaged in various roles that demonstrate his versatility and commitment to sharing his expertise. 

He served as a Senior Lecturer at University Technology Malaysia (1975-1978), enriching the academic community with his knowledge. Between 2008 and 2010, he was a member of the Supervisory Committee for Sime Darby Property Division; and in 2006 was Founder Director of Pelaburan Hartanah Malaysia where he served until 2022, contributing to the real estate sector’s development. From 2012 to 2014, he served as Council Member to Majlis Agama Islam Dan Adat Melayu Terengganu (MAIDAM), displaying his dedication to community service.

In 2019 to 2022, he was invited to sit on the Board of Central Bank Malaysia, where he served as Chairman of Board Governance Committee and member of Board Audit and Board Risk Committees. 

In 2017, together with Dato’ Hamdan Leman, a heart surgeon, they founded Yayasan Jantung Kogenital Malaysia (Malaysian Congenital Heart Foundation), a non-profit organisation, supporting patients and families affected by congenital heart disease.
