In five years, Punggol North could potentially claim a “Mini Silicon Valley” status in Singapore upon completion of its initial few buildings. The master plan for the 123.55 acre Punggol Digital District was launched on January 21, 2018 and is expected to generate up to 28,000 digital economy jobs. The district will also serve as a test bed for a slew of new features and planning practices such as zoning rules. Such rules, which affect land use and density will be applied on a district level instead of on an individual land parcel basis, thus providing developers with added flexibility. Punggol North will be connected to wider Singapore via the new Punggol Coast MRT station.
